3. What is Abuse and Neglect?

The content will give you an overview of the potential for risk when learners are online, in relation to, amongst other areas, grooming, sexting and cyberbullying. The module will remind you of the legal position should you become aware of an incident and will outline ways of empowering individuals to be safe and report issues when online.
By the end of the module, you’ll understand the technological risks, specific threats to young people and the best practices for online safety.
6. Radicalisation and Extremism
Safeguarding entails preventing individuals from being swayed by extremist ideologies. If you interact with young people or adults and notice the emergence of extremist ideas, it is important to challenge those ideas and assess whether anyone you are in contact with is at risk of indoctrination.
This module outlines how radicalisation can affect individuals, helps identify groups that might attempt to indoctrinate them and sheds light on the Prevent duty training.
7. Maintaining a Person-Centred Approach
Adopting a person-centred approach ensures the potential victim remains the focal point of safeguarding efforts.
